Inaugural ceremony of AICTE ATAL One Week Faculty Development Programme on “Sustainable Energy and Climate Change” at Stanley College.

The inaugural ceremony of the week-long Faculty Development Programme on the theme “Sustainable Energy and Climate Change” was held grandly at Stanley College of Engineering and Technology for Women, Abids, Hyderabad. The programme was presided over by the Convener and Coordinator, Dr. K. L. Vasundhara.

Prof. Yesuratnam Department of Electrical Engineering(Osmania University), who attended as the Chief Guest, stated that energy is the lifeline of society. However, the majority of the energy resources we use—such as coal, petrol, and gas—are limited in nature. He explained that these energy sources are the major contributors to climate change and pollution. Referring to the International Energy Agency report, he pointed out that more than 70% of greenhouse gas emissions come from energy consumption. He stressed that sustainable energy is no longer a choice but a necessity. Solar energy, wind energy, biofuels, and hydrogen technology, he noted, are the tools that will provide us with a clean future. He also emphasized that technical knowledge alone is not sufficient—collective awareness, policy changes, and education are equally vital. Only when all citizens of society work together in unison, he said, will the Sustainable Development Goals be achievable, thereby ensuring a healthy environment for future generations.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. M. Madhavi, Co-Coordinator of the programme.

The event was graced by Sri K. Krishna Rao, Correspondent and Secretary of the College; Management Members Mr. T. Rakesh Reddy and Mr. R. Pradeep Reddy; Prof. A. Vinay Babu, Dean; Dr. B. L. Raju, Principal; Dr. V. Anuradha, Director; Course Co-Coordinators Dr. G. Sireesha, Dr. M. Vidya Bhargavi, faculty members; and a large number of students.
